Stimulus Funds at UNM

Researchers on Main campus have received $12.6 million in competitive grant awards from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funds. "It is the successful endeavors of our researchers that enhance UNM's contributions at the national and international levels, as well as contributions to the economic growth of the state and the region," says Julia Fulghum, Vice President for Research.

The largest award, $6.7 million, was made to the Long Term Ecological Research Network Office by the National Science Foundation. The five-year grant will be used to support cyber infrastructure development for integrated network science.

Another large grant was awarded to Assistant Professor of Computer Science Jed Crandall. He is working with colleagues at the University of Texas at Austin to develop technologies that will help programmers write code to solve computer security problems during periods of heavy processing.

The UNM Health Sciences Center has so far received about $9 million in awards.
